Show ran from 12/1/2010 to 12/18/2010

"Presently Absent"  installation

Opening Reception: Friday, December 3, 6-9pm

"Presently Absent" is a body of work exploring Nicole Jacquard's American Indian heritage and investigating a particular area where her family is from and still lives to this day. She is interested in their way of living, how objects of necessity were made, objects that were once made from local resources, and made for specific purposes. Universal themes that continue to reoccur throughout her work are the idea of the souvenir, ornamentation, memory, longing, and nostalgia associated with the collection of personal objects. Overall it is the artist's goal to express a unique narrative and sense of longing for either what could be the past, present or even a possible future.
