Terra Toma, works on paper

This series of mixed media works on paper, whose title comes from the Latin for "earth" and "volume," is a powerful collection of abstract images influenced by, and in response to the artist's experience with ovarian cancer. Characterized by spiraling organic forms, saturated autumnal colors and a strong black line, Terra Toma has been variously described as an "auto-topography" and as a lyrical journey, punctuated by outbursts of realism, through the subconsciousness of healing.
