"The Unspoken Truth about Color: A Dialogue in Art Quilts about Racism" is a group exhibit, sponsored by YWCA Metropolitan Chicago. The artists examine the most complex and seldom discussed, most problematic and insistent of all issues in our culture today: racism.  Included are works from a diverse group of women fiber artists from across the country, ranging in age from mid 30's to 70's. These artists have created pieces based on their personal experiences and are dedicated to promoting a dialogue about the subject in all its many complex forms and express their hope for a better world.Participating artists: Carol Beck · Sherry Boram · Diana Bracy · Jacqueline Bryant Campbell · Nancy Cash · Susanne Clawson · Betty Colburn · Eileen Doughty · Michele Flamer · Debra Gabel · Laura R Gadson · Connie Heller · Carol Krueger · Jeanne Marklin · Jancy McClellan-Ryan · Karen Musgrave · Edna J Patterson-Petty · Mary Scales · Susan Shie · Bonnie J Smith · Jeanette Thompson · Susan Walen · Betty Warner · Sabrina Zarco · Sauda ZharaAbout the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago: Our mission to eliminate racism and empower women is actualized through a large breadth of programs and services. Regardless of race or economic status, the YWCA provides women with the support and tools they need to transform their lives, be confident in their choices and raise healthy families. Our core programmatic areas include: Early Childhood Services, Sexual Violence and Support Services, Economic Empowerment and our Center for Racial Justice and Activism. The YWCA serves over 138,000 women, children and families annually through these programs. And while our services are broad and varied, they are linked by a common thread; our dedication to promoting racial justice and personal empowerment across everything we do.
