Current, mixed media installation

This installation includes bronze bird nests, quilts made of sticks and organza, cast resin shelves that look like running water, and lights that run throughout the piece. Current is about the flow of life, as in the current of a river or the current of electricity. Life can be a very strong idea, but is often very fragile in reality, hence the bird nests caught up in the current of a river. In creating a bed with a quilt made of sticks, Hoffman tries to reveal the life-sustaining connection between human and animal activity.
