Line, Ink, Space:  Opening  Reception Fri.  May 3, 6-9pm Working with sumi ink and brushes of many sizes, Katherine Nemanich paints with broad movements that echo the rhythmic flow and rhetoric of selected musical compositions. She then transforms these marks into three-dimensional constructions as she tears and combines her calligraphic paintings, bending and layering the durable 100% cotton paper and fastening it in places with industrial elements—grommets, bolts, and wire. Nemanich’s constructions are non-rectangular and extend outwards across the wall or floor, or suspend from the ceiling.
