This exhibit, Reflections: 50 Years of Self Portraits by Joe Steiner, began 50 years ago. Steiner has always preferred painting from life and originally turned to him-self as a subject when he didn't have access to other models. Over the years, he began to view self portraits as a means to record his life and how he has been affected by the things that have happened to him. As he has grown older, Steiner has become more and more interested in how he is aging. His paintings of others convey how people from different walks of life feel and present themselves. Through his self portraits, Steiner expresses who he is, how he sees himself and how he feels about himself in the world around him.
