"Brown Studies," fiber-quilted wall art
The quilts in this series can be seen as conversations among cultures represented by fabrics: African, American, Australian, Indonesian and Japanese. "Clashing" colors, patterns and textures can be juxtaposed because the eye is tolerant where the mind is not. Deeper patterns are thus simultaneously revealed and hidden, mysterious yet revelatory. Cacophony may become harmony, another landscape, another country revealed.
