Christopher Fraser's paintings are figurative, selected from images that incite an emotional response, or effuse an apparent subliminal understanding that is obvious. The paintings are portraits, snapshots of individual self-awareness as evidence of life. This exhibit, Trust the Photograph, demonstrates an independent style, with broad sweeping brush strokes, intended to capture the individual moment in motion, frozen in time, providing a gateway to contact with the subject. Crossroads arise, decisions are made: left or right, up or down, all in a progression. As a consequence, the destiny is the continuation of the new. Painting allows the artist to expand beyond the snapshot, to amplify and transform into a projection of a living entity. At the same time, the interaction between the image and the artist is a constant dialogue, an intimate creative connection.
