A Delicate Balance

There are two main concepts artist Carolyne King focuses on in her artistic body of work. First, is the notion that everything is connected and second is that the search for the self is the path to artistic and spiritual enlightenment. To paraphrase Joseph Campbell: When the realization that who a person is on the inside is the same as the universe around them, it allows for a meaningful artistic exchange. Her exhibit, A Delicate Balance, is evocative of this idea. It is the search into, and connection to, the microscopic, unseen universe that surrounds us and the universe that lives within us. It is the cells that make up our whole being and the cells that make up the natural world around us. King's artwork is a reflection of her belief that we are on a continuous and circuitous path of creation, illumination, and spiritual progression towards a persons place within the universe.
