Alisa Singer
"Environmental Graphiti: The Art of Climate Change" Opening Fri. March 3, 6-9pm
Alisa Singer believes the general public needs to become more aware of the compelling facts regarding climate change and the many ways it is impacting our planet. She was attracted by the aesthetic design elements of scientific charts and graphs, and intrigued by the idea of using art to help draw attention to their urgent message. She sets out to develop an approach to marry her art to this cause by using as the "blueprint" for each of the digital paintings in the series, The Art of Climate Change, a chart, graph, word, number or symbol representative of a key fact about climate change. Her discoveries have shown that the art makes the science more accessible, and the science makes the art more meaningful.
