Kristinia Gosh
Kristina Gosh is an interdisciplinary artist and educator based in Chicago and Vermont. Her art practice combines social performance, installation, sculptural painting, collage, writing and yoga asana & philosophy to ponder the organic dichotomies of life ~
the natural and the synthetic — the urban and the rural — the modern and the antiquated — the balanced and the unstable — the diseased and the well.
Kristina is deeply inspired by the Fluxus art movement and navigates the world through the idea that art and life are one and the same. Chance, experimentation, and slowness are at the crux of her process. The lyrical worlds of musician Neko Case also provide great artistic inspiration ~ Case’s gritty, ethereal fables resonate profoundly with the internal dreamscapes that inform Kristina’s work.
As an educator, Kristina has 20+ years experience working with nearly every age group from pre-K to college. She has been a ski instructor, nanny, ESL tutor, after school program manager for under-served youth, instructional designer, college faculty member, arts integration specialist, teaching artist, and art camp instructor. She is currently an arts education consultant for Chicago Public Schools and provides instructional coaching to CPS educators for integrating the arts and social emotional learning into K-8 curriculum.
Kristina has exhibited/performed her work nationally and internationally. Some venues are the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; Galerie der Gedok (Hamburg, Germany); The Redhead Gallery (Toronto, ON); Amos Eno Gallery (Brooklyn, NY); eye lounge (Phoenix, AZ); The Chicago Humanities Festival; The Center for Book & Paper Arts (Chicago); Spoke Gallery (Chicago); The Chicago Moving Company; Ragdale (Lake Forest, IL); Studio Place Arts (Barre, VT) and Art on Track Chicago – a mobile art festival on a CTA train. She also performed fluxus scores by Alison Knowles in a concert ensemble led by Knowles at Columbia College Chicago.
Kristina holds a double BA in Studio Art & French from the University of Vermont and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts & Media from Columbia College Chicago. She is certified in youth mental health first aid and trauma-informed yoga education for children, and is currently working on her RCYT (registered children’s yoga teacher) certification through Yoga Alliance. Kristina has been the recipient of the VSA ArtsConnect Scholarship, a 3Arts Award nomination in the teaching arts category, the CCAP TE@M Convergence Learning Fellowship, and the Albert P. Weisman Award.
